Suitability for Airborne Landings

The most suitable area appears to lie to the NORTH of the hills bordering SANDAKAN town, att a distance of about 1.25 mls from the Harbour. The ground slopes to the beach of the NE and the surface is apparently level and not obstructed by vegetation.

The suggested area is approached from SANDAKAN bv the KABON CHINA road, which runs along its SOUTHern boundary, and which, with the golf course and wireless-station buildings which lie along- side it, may provide suitable landmarks. There is no information; regarding the size and present condition of the golf course, but the general area including it is believed to be suitable.
