Faithful ‘Pippy’

by

Win Rainer

Oh faithful friend, Indeed you have been

Together we walk beneath the trees of green,

Enjoying life, just we two together

Forsaking me for others, you have never,

In times of great sadness you have always been with me

Soft wet nose against my face or head resting on my knee,

Such faith and understanding from golden brown eyes shine

Pippy, Oh Pippy, I’m glad you are mine

Now it’s farewell after many years

Heartbreak comes with silvery tears,

No more will we great the early light

Sniffing in hedge rows all dewy and white,

Walking amongst trees in Sandy Lane

What price the loneliness and the pain,

The time has come and there is no reprieve

For you my darling Pippy I will always grieve.
