A Mother In War

Win Rainer

29/05/04

The incredible mother her love tender and true

Stands by her family in war and what they do,

To comfort them, they know, helps them to be strong

Through battles that terrify, without mercy go on,

Badly wounded men without hope, call out for their mum

Screaming planes dive to bomb, thunder of the big gun,

Still this mother carries on in torment with no release

Cannot sleep at night, just praying for peace,

When peace finally comes, what price the pain

Her remaining young come home never to be young again,

That loving mums arm's open wide

Her face wreathed in smiles, only the heartache she hides.
