Memorial

In 2005, a ceremony was held at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra , Australia for those lost at Sandakan with a new dedicated memorial. There was as a good turn out with a son of one of the few Aussie survivors giving a good talk, telling how his dad found it hard to forgive the Japanese in his life and wished some healing in his passing. He was the last of the six Aussie Sandakan survivors to pass on.

The minister for veterans affairs did the opening and the Chief of the Defence Force, Peter Cosgrove and others were there giving tribute to those lost in the tragedy of Sandakan.

Sharing information with others is rewarding in itself, the pieces from the jigsaw begin to fit together and a picture begins to appear. Improve your knowledge and help make the Fepow Story an everlasting memorial to their memory.
