 The Last Days

4th February 1942

Met Frank van Rennen (Jungle is Neutral?).

9th February 1942

Dad and Richardson assigned to AIF as interpreters.

10th February 1942

Not needed at AIF HQ, back to Sime Road to burn papers, maps, etc.

13th February 1942

Cathay Building

Staying on 7th floor of the Cathay Building, this being Intelligence HQ (this said in Memoirs p89).

14th February 1942

Went into Battle Box. Malayan Command HQ.

15th February 1942

Surrender

Singapore Surrendered to the Japanese at the Ford Factory

and so began

Three and a half years as a Japanese Prisoner of War
